The opportunity
Ye’s BULLY album created an opportunity to translate a new body of work into a physical cultural moment, bringing the music directly to an audience through a large-scale live experience in London.
Most albums arrive on a screen and are heard alone. This one could arrive in a room, heard together and at full scale. That was the opportunity: to make a release something people attended.
The Caldo move
Executive producing the listening experience
Caldo executive produced the BULLY live album listening experience at ExCeL London, overseeing the production and bringing together the music, audience and creative elements required to deliver the experience.
A listening experience has one job, which is to let the music fill the room. Everything around it has to serve that.
What Caldo did:
Executive production: Caldo executive produced the live album listening experience.
Production oversight: Caldo oversaw the production at ExCeL London.
Bringing the parts together: The music, the audience and the creative elements were brought together to deliver one experience.
Why a live experience:
Scale: A large-scale setting lets a new body of work be felt as well as heard.
Directness: The music reaches the audience first hand, in the room.
Shared memory: People remember where they were and who they were with.
The role of the executive producer is to hold all of that together, so that the audience notices only the music.
What happened next
About 2,500 people, one shared moment
Approximately 2,500 people came together for an immersive live listening experience, transforming the album into a shared cultural moment beyond the traditional release format.
For the people in the room, the album stopped being only something to stream. It became somewhere they had been.
What the experience delivered:
An audience in the room: Approximately 2,500 people came together at ExCeL London.
An immersive format: The album was presented as a live listening experience.
A moment beyond the release: The album became a shared cultural moment beyond the traditional release format.
A physical moment gives a body of work something a release date cannot, which is an audience that was there.
The takeaway
We don’t just launch culture. We bring people inside it.
BULLY shows what happens when an idea is given a room and an audience. The work becomes an event, and the audience becomes part of it.
What it shows:
Creative platform: Turn the opportunity into an idea people want to participate in.
Experience: Bring the idea to life for real audiences.
Amplification: Build the communications and cultural momentum around it.
